Police are looking for four men who shot both legs on a man they were attempting to kidnap Sunday evening.

Lt. Carlos Delgado with the Starr County Sheriff TMs Office tells Action 4 News the 44 year old man had just arrived at his home located at the intersection of Bar street and Bustos just east of Rio Grande City, when an old model Ford Explorer pulled up to the house.

A man got out and an argument started.

At one point the victim was shot in the leg and four men tried to physically put him inside the vehicle.

The man got away and ran inside the home where his family was, but the four men grabbed him and tried once again to force him into the Explorer.

At that time the victim TMs other leg was shot.

Neighbors went outside when they heard the shots and screaming which caused the four men to drive away without the victim.

The man is in the hospital in stable condition, according to authorities he does have a criminal history but investigators would not specify what types of crimes he allegedly committed.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) helicopter pilot spotted the suspect vehicle along the Rio Grande River in the rural community of La Casita on Tuesday afternoon.

It's not clear if the suspects fled to Mexico but anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Starr County Sheriff Office at (956) 487-5571.
