Marine on leave accused of raping woman in Brownsville
A U.S. Marine on leave is behind bars after being accused of raping a woman in Brownsville.
Brownsville police arrested 21-year-old Marino Vilano around 1 p.m. Thursday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Vilano that he first threatened to kill himself with a kitchen knife,
Vilano is accused of then forcing a 21-year-old victim to have sex with him.
Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but police said Vilano and the victim knew each other.
Vilano fell asleep following the attack and police said the woman managed to get away.
Officers charged Vilano with aggravated sexual assault.
Vilano remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under a $50,000 surety bond.
