A McAllen attorney spent the night jail after he allegedly drove while intoxicated and crashed his car into a house.

The McAllen Police Department confirmed 52-year-old Adolfo "Al" Alvarez Jr. was booked into the city jail on a DWI charge late Tuesday night.

Investigators told Action 4 News that officers believe Alvarez was intoxicted when he crashed his Mercedes Benz into a home on the 3600 block of Northwestern Street at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Alvarez spent the night in jail and appeared before a McAllen municipal judge on Wendesday morning where he was issued a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

Alamo police arrested Alvarez earlier this month in a harassment case where he allegedly sent text messages to his estranged wife's new romantic interest.

It's not clear how his Tuesday night arrest will affect his personal recognizance bond in the harassment case.

Alvarez often works as a defense attorney out of McAllen's federal courthouse where he represented such high-profile clients such as former Hidalgo County Commissioner Sylvia Handy.

The McAllen attorney also represented former PSJA board member Raul "Roy" Navarro.

Alvarez also currenlty represents Mission dentist Reynaldo Casares in a Medicaid fraud case involving former Texas State Rep. Tara Ybarra Rios.
