McAllen installs new shade canopies at downtown bus station
The city of McAllen recently installed new shade canopies at the downtown bus terminal, offering travelers a cool place to wait for a ride.
McAllen paid 20 percent of the approximately $30,000 cost. The Federal Transit Administration paid the remainder.
"We also have the taxis that queue up on the east side of the facility so we wanted to provide them with some shade and cover from the elements when it's raining and stuff like that," said Transit Director Mario Delgado.
The city plans to make additional improvements to the bus station bathrooms and signs.
