A South McAllen pastor is in recovery in Mexico after being hit by an 18-wheeler last week.
Jeremy Valladares, a pastor at Heritage Baptist Church in McAllen, was on a missionary trip in Mexico when the accident happened.
He was delivering money to help build a mission.
Valladares has traveled through Mexico several times in the past building missions and preaching.
On his way back home, the driver of the car he was in lost control and the pair was hit by an 18-wheeler.
The accident left Valladares with several broken bones and bruises.
His wife traveled down to be by his side during his recovery while his three children wait for his return to the Valley.
Friends tell Action 4 News Valladares cannot return home until he undergoes one more surgery.
Valladares is an avid cyclist and a tri-athlete.
His surgeries have already cost him $6,000, but the accident has put him in the tens of thousands of dollars in debt.
Right now friends are working to raise money to help pay for his hospital bills.
