Some McAllen schools received money on Monday to help students pursue their dreams of attending college.
Representatives from each school received $20,000 dollars raised through the Annual Border Texan of the Year Dinner in Hidalgo.
For the past 19 years, the dinner has helped hundreds of students continue their education.
"We raised a little over $80,000 after we paid all of our expenses," explained board member Glen Roney. "Not only did we have a nice dinner affair, we also have a good a bit of money left over to cover these needs."
This year's Border Texan of the Year is Hidalgo Mayor John David Franz.
