Four men and a teen were arrested after they were caught caravanning a load of marijuana in Brownsville.
Cameron County District Attorney TMs investigators pulled over a Ford Expedition on Highway 77 Wednesday evening.
Two men and the teen attempted to flee from the vehicle but were quickly caught.
Inside the car, investigators found a cardboard box with 50 wrapped bundles of marijuana.
The teen alerted police to a Chevy passenger car that was trailing behind.
Officers stopped the car and took the driver and passenger of that car into custody.
Manuel Aranda, Joel Espinosa, Alberto Hernandez, Jose Torres and the teen were charged with possession of marijuana.
Torres told authorities he was getting paid $300 to follow the Expedition to Olmito.
Investigators said they confiscated 176 pounds of marijuana.
