On Thursday, immigrants without proper documentation were detained after being spotted using a hotel microwave.

Officers observed Juan Jose Gonzalez-Arreola at a Motel 6 in Mission walk from his motel room to the lobby where he was seen using a microwave to heat up leftover pizza.

After being observed by Homeland Security Investigators (HSI), they suspected Gonzalez-Arreola and the man he was seen with as being in the U.S. without proper documentation.

Later on, Gonzalez-Arreola was seen peeking out of the motel room door.

He noticed the officer and quickly shut the door.

HSI then made contact with three immigrants inside the room, who were then identified as Mexican Nationals illegally present in the U.S.

The investigators also saw a man parked outside the hotel room watching the area.

They identified the man as Ramiro Rios.

After a database search, Rios was identified as being previously detained for a non-prosecuted smuggling case near Falfurrias.

Rios was questioned and allegedly admitted that he was being paid $100 to deliver food to the immigrants at the motel.

The hearing is set for May 1st at 11:00 a.m. where they will appear before Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos.
