The 2-month-old authorities have been searching for in a canal has been found near a bridge, according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department.
Authorities said a reporter and a photographer from the Monitor were out by the canal taking photos of fishermen when they saw the baby's body.
The reporter called the sheriff's department and officials responded to the scene.
Crews had been searching the canal since a car accident Sunday morning.
Authorities said the baby, the baby TMs parents and the baby's uncle were traveling on Seminary Road in Edinburg when the driver lost control and rolled over.
The mother claimed there was a car seat in the vehicle and the child was strapped in. However, police were unable to find the child at the scene.
At one point the father told police he did not have the baby, and then at another point would say he might have the baby.
The baby's uncle died from injuries sustained at the crash.
The investigation had to be re-launched on Monday because of the parent's conflicting stories.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said the baby's mother confessed that all the adults in the vehicle had been heavily drinking.
The father could possibly face manslaughter or endangerment to a child charges.
