Mission CISD tool helps control, eliminate contagious viruses
As flu season is in full swing, the Mission Consolidated Independent School District is taking a new approach to disinfecting classrooms.
The school district purchased eight electrostatic disinfection units for $5,000 each. The machines release a mist that provides an electric charge and allows the cleaning solution to attach to any surface, killing viruses and germs faster and in hard to reach areas.
"Basically the purchase of the E-mist devices that we have is designed to be more proactive more than anything else-- to help control the spread of the germs that cause colds and flues and MRSA and things of that nature," said MISD spokesman Craig Verley.
These machines will not only be used in classrooms, but also in the gyms and school buses.
School officials say that this machine will help control or eliminate possible contagious viruses like norovirus or the flu.
