Mission's longtime police chief has announced that he's retiring.
It all happened at a Mission City Commission meeting aroundd 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Chief Leo Longoria told Action 4 News that he made the decision because he wants to spend more time with his family..
Longoria said he's been considering the decision for quite some time now and says the timing couldn't be better.
At the current time the mayor, city manager and commissioners are said to be discussing who they will name as interim police chief.
The retirement follows two recent scandals. One involving his department-issued gun being stolen from his police unit and the other involving illegally raffling property seized by the Mission Police Department.
Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
