A man who served for seven months as interim police chief in Mission now has the job on a full-time and permanent basis.
City leaders swore in Robert Dominguez as police chief during a Monday afternoon ceremony.
Dominguez replaces former chief Martin Garza, who is now Mission TMs city manager.
A longtime lawman, Dominguez said Mission is one of the safest cities in Hidalgo County and he intends to keep it that way.
The Border Star Grant, the Stone Garden Grant, the Crime Victim Liaison Grant and the STEP Grant, Dominguez said. All these grants allow us to have more officers out on the roads in order to address crime all over the community."
With nearly 150 officers and 50 civilian employees, Mission has one of the Valley's largest police departments.
Chief Dominguez said officers and employees recently got raises but he hopes to be able to expand the department to meet the city TMs rapid growth.
