An Edinburg mother is facing criminal charges after she left her 11-year-old daughter to babysit three younger siblings.
Edinburg police arrested 33-year-old Lori Elizabeth Garcia on a child endangerment charge on Wednesday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called out to 8th and Canal Streets for a little girl found wandering the streets just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The girl's 11-year-old sister came up to police and said her mother left her in charge to babysit the girl and two other siblings while their mother went to the store.
Garcia arrived at the scene and allegedly told police that she had gone to drop off some mail and she knew that she wasn't supposed to leave her children alone like that.
The children were turned over to the custody of their father while police arrested Garcia.
