"Every month there are good buys and there are bad buys. In April, here are the good buys:"
Three things that are good to buy in April are Spring clothing, Mother's Day gifts and 60-inch LCD TVs.
Mid-season promotion of clothing should take between 25 and 40 percent off.
For Mother's Day gifts, take advantage of coupons and department store sales, as prices tend to rise right before the holiday.
For the second straight month, deals on 60-inch LCD TVs have hovered at an all-time low price of $500.
"Not everything is a good buy. Here are some things you need to avoid in April:"
The three things to avoid buying in April are vacuums, mattresses and laptops. Many people think to buy a new vacuum in the spring, but hold off.
There are twice as many deals in November. For the past few years, mattress deals were better in May, thanks to Memorial Day sales.
March was a bad month for laptop deals, as 15-inch laptops rebounded to their pre-holiday rates.
Bottom line... Shopping by the calendar makes sense because every month there are some good deals and some bad.
