A Brownsville mother is facing criminal charges after her 5-year-old child was found wandering a WalMart store alone.
Brownsville police arrested Erika Simental Rodriguez on a child abandonment charge on Thursday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened at a WalMart store off Alton Gloor Boulevard.
Employees told police that they found a 5-year-old child wandering the store alone.
The employees paged Rodriguez numerous times but she didn't go up front until 30 minutes later.
Rodriguez told police that she sent her 10-year-old child to look for the 5-year-old while she continued to shop.
The Brownsville mother appeared before a municipal court judge where she was issued a $5,000 dollar bond.
