Motorcycle accident claims life of Edinburg man

Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Border Patrol agent from Edinburg.

It all happened off the 2100 block of Uvalde Avenue in McAllen late Friday morning.

McAllen police said 25-year-old Eubin Gomez, Jr. was killed in the accident.

It TMs not clear what happened but investigators said Gomez lost control of his motorcycle.

A Hidalgo County justice of the peace pronounced Gomez dead at the scene.

U.S. Border Patrol officials told Action 4 News that Gomez was an agent but was off-duty at the time of the accident.

According to Border Patrol officials, Gomez started working as an agent at the Harlingen Border Patrol Station back in 2007.

Gomez was assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Sector Mobile Response Team at the time of his death.

Border Patrol officials reported that Gomez leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter.
