Motorist charged with intoxication manslaughter after downtown McAllen crash

Investigators have arrested a 29-year-old motorist accused of killing a pedestrian Saturday in downtown McAllen.

At about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, a car struck a pedestrian near the intersection of 15th Street and Business 83, according to information released by the McAllen Police Department.

The pedestrian, 21-year-old Kevin Andrade of Roma, died at a local hospital, said Lt. Joel Morales, a spokesman for the police department.

Officers arrested the driver, 29-year-old Leonel Martinez Adame of Mission.

Adame is charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, a second-degree felony, and accident involving death, a second-degree felony.

A judge set bond at $120,000.

Adame remains at the Hidalgo County jail and couldn't be reached for comment Monday.
