The names of the three people who died in a fatal crash involving a City of Harlingen dump truck have been released.

Miguel Angel Giron, 47, David Giron, 14, and 42-year-old Rafael Antonio Romero all died as a result of the crash involving the pickup they were traveling in, police said in a press release.

The fatal accident happened when the pickup truck and a city dump truck collided at the intersection of Haine Drive and FM 509, according to Harlingen Police Department.

Three others in the pickup truck and the driver of the city truck were all transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police said they are currently working with the survivors to piece together exactly what happened Tuesday afternoon.

The city dump truck flipped over causing trash to spill on the road.

Two people were ejected from the pickup and found within the spilled debris, according to authorities.

San Benito Police Department and other agencies assisted Harlingen Police Department at the scene.

Currently, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is also assisting in the investigation.

Two of the victims of the deadly crash were from California and one of them was a Georgia resident.

The family of the victims said those dead were related and were headed to a nearby home.
