A Brownsville man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly attacked his common law wife because she wanted to move out of town.
Brownsville police arrested 30-year-old Ricardo Rodriguez on assault family violence charges on late Monday night.
Investigators told Action 4 News that officers were called to a local apartment complex for a domestic disturbance.
Police said the domestic violence incident started with an argument because Rodriguez's common law wife wanted to move out of town.
Rodriguez allegedly responded by grabbing her in a bear hug and throwing her on the bed and covering her mouth with his hand not letting her breath.
The woman managed to get away while a neighbor called police.
Several neighbors told police that they could hear the disturbance from their homes inside the apartment complex.
