It's been years in the making, a new Veteran's Health Care Facility will open in Harlingen come January of 2011.
Froy Garza, the Public Affairs Officer for the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System tells Action 4 News, "We still have to put in a lot of furniture, a lot of equipment we still have to install a lot of special equipment that's going to be needed for the specialty clinic.
Action 4 News took a rare look inside the new state of the art specialty clinic.
"We want to make this facility feel more like a home verses a medical facility", said Garza.
This facility comes with all of the bells and whistles from a welcoming lobby to a covered parking garage.
The facility will even house a veteran's resource center. "We received some requests from the local veterans service organizations asking for this so with this particular facility we made sure that we did include a spot for them", said Garza.
Services offered at this new facility include, Orthopedics, Urology, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Infectious Disease, Dermatology, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology,Rheumatology,Amputee/Prosthetics Clinic and Endoscopy.
For now the finishing touches will continue. If you are a veteran and not enrolled for care with the VA, you can stop by one of the VA clinics and register.
