Not Out of the Woods: Thunderstorms Still Possible with Front
Wed, 03 Apr 2013 15:22:52 GMT —
The ingredients for possible thunderstorms and showers are starting to come together in portions of the Rio Grande Valley.
A good amount of moisture, an approaching front, and good energy are allowing thunderstorms to pop in portions of the extreme western viewing area.
Already a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued in association with a storm that formed just over the border in Mexico and moved into southern Zapata and Starr counties.
So far, heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning have been the main threat with that storm.
However, small hail is possible.
As the afternoon progresses, we could see more shower or thunderstorm activity through the area, especially as the front approaches.
Although severe weather is not expected, it is possible. Residents should remain alert and use caution if caught in an area of bad weather.
