Officer, trooper rescue couple trapped in rolled over burning truck
Two public servants have been credited with saving a couple trapped in a burning vehicle, which toppled on its side.
A Pharr police officer and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper rescued the Colorado couple from a rolled over truck towing a trailer on the expressway.
The couple was trapped inside the vehicle in Pharr on Monday, February 24th, but Pharr police released the dashboard camera video today.
The video shows police, state troopers and even other bystanders all assisting to free the couple from danger.
DPS trooper Kyle McCarty arrived to the scene of the accident and saw Pharr police officer Joshua Ybarra trying to break the windshield to free the couple from the rolled over truck, according to the Pharr Police Department.
The trooper and officer then pulled the woman passenger through the front windshield area and cut the driver TMs seat belt and rescued him too.
Authorities say bystanders also assisted in the rescue effort on the southbound lanes of U.S. 281.
The accident happened near North I-69C in the city of Pharr.
The truck and trailer jackknifed, rolled over and caught fire, according to police.
The 65-year-old and 62-year-old from Colorado were both treated and released from the hospital.
