Officers find more than 91 pounds of liquid meth inside cans at Donna International Bridge
Officers stationed at the Progreso/Donna Port of Entry seized more than 91 pounds of liquid methamphetamine on July 27, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
When a 1999 Ford Econoline van attempted to cross the Donna International Bridge into the United States on July 27, an officer referred it to secondary inspection.
Upon searching the van, officers found 12 cans containing 91.67 pounds of liquid methamphetamine. U.S. Customs and Border Protection estimates the seizure at a street value of $270,000, according to the news release.
The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation, according to the news release.
Progreso/Donna Port Director Carlos Rodriguez stated in the news release:
“It is dumbfounding to see the lengths smuggling organizations would go through to smuggle narcotics into the United States. I commend our CBP officers for demonstrating exemplary diligence and keeping these very dangerous drugs off the streets of our communities.”
