Oklahoma man kicks in door, saves woman and child from burning home
SAPULPA, Okla. — An Oklahoma woman and her child are safe this morning due to the heroic actions of a neighbor.
Sapulpa firefighters responded around 2 a.m. Wednesday to a house fire near Ridgeway and James. Cody Edwards, a neighbor who was up doing laundry at the time, called 911 after seeing flames coming from the house.
Edwards says he ran across the street and kicked in the front door of the burning home. A woman and her child were sleeping in the home while the fire was burning, but Edwards was able to get them out of the home.
Unfortunately, a dog and a cat died in the fire. The house is a total loss.
It's not clear what started the fire, but fire officials say it might have started in the garage.
The Red Cross responded to help the victims of the fire.
