Olmito mom takes stand against homemade tattoos

A Hello Kitty tattoo is permanent on the stomach of an Olmito 15-year-old.

She did not want to reveal her name or show her face.

She's embarrassed by the trouble the tattoo caused.

Olga Losoya, the teen's mom, expressed a different emotion.

She fears her daughter's homemade tattoo could make her sick.

The teen got the tattoo from 19-year-old Rudy Garay.

Court records show Garay is unlicensed and used homemade tattoo equipment.

Under Texas law, a teen can get a tattoo with parent permission.

      Losoya did not consent.

She tipped off the Cameron County Sheriff's Department.

      They arrested Garay.

Losoya hopes his arrest will protect other young girls from harm's way.

Her daughter said she planned on paying Garay $10.00 for the Hello Kitty tattoo.

Her mom called that cost incomparable to what her daughter may have to pay with her health.

Losoya said she took her daughter to the doctor.

The doctor reportedly did not find any kind of infection but wants the teen to return in a few months.

Meanwhile, a judge gave Garay a $500.00 bond for each of his violations against state tattoo regulations.
