On-line sting ends alleged cyber-predator arrested in McAllen

A Pharr man is behind bars after being arrested in an undercover sting where he agreed to meet an underage girl.

Alberto Guerrero Gomez is being charged with online solicitation of a minor and reckless driving.

The 34-year-old allegedly had been exchanging text messages and chatting online with a 14-year-old girl.

However, that girl was an undercover officer with the Texas Attorney General TMs Office Cyber Crimes Unit.

The Pharr man allegedly sent sexually explicit text messages and arranged for the girl to meet with him at different locations in McAllen.

When Gomez arrived at the first location, he sped off at a high rate of speed.

Later on that evening, he initiated a chat with the 14-year-old girl and told her to meet at another location in McAllen.

On April 11th, he sent a text message to the girl confirming the meeting.

When Guerrero arrived to the second location he sped off again, but not before escaping McAllen police where they arrested him at a thrift store.

Gomez also indicated that he is not American citizen.
