One dead, two wounded in attacks in south Tamaulipas

Authorities are reporting one person is dead and two more are wounded following attacks on public buildings in southern Tamaulipas.

State officials reported that shots were fired on at least two public buildings in the town of Gonzalez on Tuesday morning.

The city of 42,000 people is located near the border with the neighboring state of San Luis Potosi -- about six hours south of Matamoros and Reynosa.

Tamaulipas officials reported that unknown suspects opened fire on the town's city hall and a federal police station there.

Authorities reported that one person was killed and two were wounded by gunfire.

The identities of the victims have not been released but the case remains under investigation.
