Oregon man who "encouraged sexual abuse" arrested in Reynosa

A Oregon man who was wanted on multiple charges of encouraging sexual abuse is behind bars after being arrested south of the border in Reynosa.

Mexican authorities arrested 34-year-old Jeremy Lee Shaw on Tuesday.

Details about his arrest in Mexico were not immediately available but Shaw was handed over to American officials at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge.

U.S. Border Patrol officials confirmed that Shaw was wanted by the Bend Police Department in Oregon on multiple counts of encouraging child sex abuse.

According to Hidalgo County Jail records, Shaw is facing at least 12 criminal charges from Oregon.

Border Patrol officials reported that an agent received a tip that Shaw had been hiding out in Reynosa.

The Border Patrol agent worked with the FBI, the Bend Police Department and Mexican authorities resulting in Shaw's arrest.

Shaw is currently housed at the Hidalgo County Jail where he is awaiting extradition to Oregon.
