Osama Bin Laden dead, body in U.S. custody

President Barack Obama has confirmed that American operatives located and killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.

Acting on information that Bin Laden was in Pakistan, President Obama confirmed that a covert team entered Bin Laden's compound in Abadabad, Pakistan on Sunday.

Obama reported that Bin Laden was killed during the operation and that his body is in United States custody.

The president said no Americans or Pakistani civilians were harmed during the strike.

Obama said that the United States is not and never has been in a war against Islam.

The president said Bin Laden is repsonsible for the deaths of thousands of muslims around the world, including the United States.

Bin Laden was the founder and leader of the Al-Qaeda terrorist network.

Bin Laden was the alleged mastermind of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Citing a former State Department official, CBS New is reporting that Al-Qaeda is expected to remain a threat but Bin Laden's death is a major blow to the organization.
