Over 300 pounds of drugs smuggled through canal tunnel

Three men face drug smuggling charges.

Border Patrol agents caught five juveniles and three adults attempting to smuggle over 300 pounds of drugs through a canal tunnel.

Agents received a tip about illegal activity going on near Alaska and Oklahoma Road in Brownsville.

Once agents responded to the scene, they saw the eight suspects carrying six bundles heading towards the border fence.

Four of the men entered a canal tunnel with the bundles floating next to them, according to Border Patrol.

Agents were able to take all eight of the suspects into custody and seize the bundles of marijuana.

The bundles weighed approximately 304.2 pounds.

The adult suspects were identified as Mijael Castillo-Medrano, Luis Cortez-Jasso and Juan Aburto-Solis.

They admitted to bringing the marijuana into the United States.

The men each received a $50,000 bond.
