Overnight campers descend on Krispy Kreme in McAllen

The grand opening is early Tuesday morning

The first campers showed up early Monday morning but they aren TMt moving until Tuesday.

Nearly one dozen overnight campers have staked out spots outside the new Krispy Kreme donuts shop in McAllen.

All of them are vying for a free year of donuts from the popular chain.

Located off Jackson Road and Expressway 83 in McAllen, it TMs the first Krispy Kreme donuts to open in the Rio Grande Valley.

The store has its grand opening at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15th but owners are celebrating with prizes.

Monica Perez was first in line but was later joined by two of her children Joshua and Cecilia.

As the first camper, Perez wins a tent and a sleeping bag.

Perez and other the first 12 customers will receive a ~Free Doughnuts for a Year TM card while the first 100 customers will receive a free Krispy Kreme McAllen T-shirt.

The first twelve days after opening will also feature a Dozen Days of Giveaways.

Customers will receive one entry form per receipt from October 15th thru October 26th.

Drawings will include a 40 flat screen TV, an iPad Mini and gift certificates to area restaurants and attractions.

Krispy Kreme has 789 stores in 21 countries but the McAllen locations is the first one in the Valley.
