A former high-ranking administrator with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is expected to have her day in court.
Pat Medina is expected to appear for sentencing before U.S. District Court Judge Ricardo Hinojosa in McAllen at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The sentencing for Medina comes less than a week after the Sheriff Lupe Trevio was sentenced to five years in federal prison for money laundering.
Medina, Who worked as Trevino's chief of staff, abruptly resigned from her post back in March.
But just a couple weeks later, Medina pleaded guilty to knowing about and not reporting the sheriff taking cash from a Weslaco-based drug trafficker Tomas "El Gallo" Gonzalez.
Medina was originally facing three years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 dollar fine for the crime.
Her sentencing was originally scheduled for July 3rd but was postponed until Wednesday morning.
