Person of interest sought in El Calaboz double murder
Authorities are asking for the public TMs help in finding a man after his estranged wife and her male friend were both violently murdered.
Mario Gonzalez is wanted for the murders of 42-year-old Lorena Gonzalez and 38-year-old Homero de Los Santos.
The bodies of Gonzalez and De Los Santos were found inside a home in the rural community of El Calaboz on Thursday afternoon.
Neighbors called 911 after a foul and strong odor started coming from the home.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio told Action 4 News that deputies believe Gonzalez and De Los Santos had been dead four to five days.
Deputies found Lorena Gonzalez TMs body in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds to her back and chest.
Investigators reported that De Los Santos' body was hit with a blunt object at least four times in the back.
Sheriff Lucio said 47-year-old Mario Gonzalez is a person of interest in the case.
According to the sheriff TMs department records, Mario Gonzalez was previously arrested for aggravated assault in March.
Sheriff TMs department deputies had previously arrested him back in September 2012 for making a terroristic threat.
Court records show that Lorena Gonzalez had filed for divorce against Mario back in April.
The couple had a hearing scheduled in the 444th State District Court in September.
Neighbors said the couple's children lived in Mexico.
