A beer run suspect is behind bars following a chase where he crashed his car and fled leaving two of his friends seriously injured.

Pharr police arrested 24-year-old Carlos Alfredo Santos early Wednesday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it all started with a traffic stop around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

An officer tried to pull over a red Jaguar believed to have been used in several beer runs just a couple of hours earlier.

Santos allegedly led police on a chase from Cage Boulevard and then east down Expressway 83 towards San Juan and Alamo.

Officers lost the car near Stewart Road but learned Santos crashed his car into the Cesar Chavez Road underpass.

Santos fled on foot but was arrested in the parking lot of nearby WalMart.

Paramedics rushed his two passengers to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Santos remains in custody on evading arrest charges but is also being investigated for intoxication assault.
