Plane crash at the Weslaco airport

Authorities are investigating what caused a small plance to crash at an airport in Weslaco.

It all happened at the north end of the Weslaco International Airport shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the small training aircraft hit the ground during landing and took out a light pole.

No injuries but authorities reported one Instructor and one student on board.

Investigators said that they tried to do a "soft field" landing.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is en route to investigate.

FAA records show that the plane is owned by Praat Flight Academy out of Weslaco.
