POLICE: Drunken couple left boys alone on rural road

A couple is facing criminal charges after an alleged night of drinking ended with them leaving two boys alone on a rural road.
Los Fresnos police arrested 30-year-old Israel Noel Losoya and 43-year-old Cecilia Ponce early Sunday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the married couple went to South Padre Island with Ponce TMs 12-year-old son and his 14-year-old friend.
The couple left the Island with the boys and stopped at Leo Aguilar Stadium off Highway 100 to use the bathroom around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
The boys told police that they were frightened by Losoya TMs driving and took the keys from the vehicle and left to call 911.
Investigators said Losoya had a spare key to the car. Both him and Ponce allegedly left without attempting to search for the boys.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers stopped the couple for speeding in Port Isabel around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
State troopers arrested Losoya for DWI and charged Ponce with public intoxication.
Both of them were taken back to Los Fresnos where they were also charged with child abandonment/endangerment.
Investigators said Losoya is from Battle Creek, Michigan while Ponce is from Pharr.
Jail records show Losoya remains in custody under $3,500 in bonds while Ponce remains in custody under $2,500 in bonds.
U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents also filed a detainer against Ponce.
