Authorities have reported that the "Mariachi Pants Bandit" was arrested in McAllen and will now face aggravated robbery charges in Weslaco.
Weslaco police reported that Jesus Perez is accused of robbing a Stripes convenience store early Monday morning.
Surveillance cameras captured the image of Perez wearing a white button shirt and black pants with a design similar to a Mariachi outfit.
Investigators released images and video of the robbery.
Weslaco Police Chief Michael Kelly reported that a Crime Stoppers tip led investigators to Perez at an apartment in McAllen late Tuesday afternoon.
Perez faced a Weslaco Municipal Court judge early Wednesday afternoon where he was issued a $100,000 dollar bond on an aggravated robbery charge.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Perez was a member of a mariachi group in McAllen but committed the robbery because he needed money.
