Police: Parents to be charged after toddler was found at Weslaco park
An investigation continues after Weslaco police reached out to the public to identify a 2-year-old toddler found at a local park.
According to police, the toddler was found at Pablo G. Pena Park by park goers on Saturday evening.
Police said they remained in the area for about an hour trying to find the toddler’s family but they were nowhere to be found.
Authorities said that it took the family nearly five hours to realize that their toddler was missing.
We’re told that in this case, Weslaco police will be filing charges that include abandonment and endangerment of a child.
Weslaco police are reminding parents to keep a close eye on your kids and don’t let them out of your sight.
Authorities added that if you have to leave for any reason, make sure there’s another adult to watch the child.
If you do come across a lost child, report it immediately to your local police department.
