Police: Two women killed in Brownsville auto-pedestrian crash
Update: Brownsville police identified the women as 59-year-old Ana Maria Santos Hernandez and 63-year-old Felipa Santos Hernandez. Police say the 16-year-old driver remained at the scene after the crash. No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation.
Original Story: Police continue to investigate an auto-pedestrian crash that killed two women in Brownsville Wednesday night.
The identities of the women will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Brownsville Police Department.
Police say the auto-pedestrian crash occurred at about 9:15 p.m. on Old Port Isabel Road and Farm-to-Market Road 802.
The women were crossing in a non-designated area when they were struck by a vehicle driven by a minor. Police say the driver had a learner’s permit and will not face charges.
Police added that the area is dimly lit.
