A man is behind bars after he allegedly molested an 11-year-old girl in Port Isabel.

Port Isabel police arrested Juan Gabriel Ruiz on an indecency with a child charge last week.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the girl made an outcry last Tuesday night.

The girl TMs mother immediately took the child to the police department to file a complaint.

Ruiz voluntarily came in to the police department on Wednesday where he confessed to the crime.

Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but police said Ruiz knew the girl and had access to her while her mother was gone.

Investigators believe that the girl is Ruiz's only victim.

Ruiz is currently in custody at the Cameron County Jail under a $75,000 bond.

Police said Ruiz is a Mexican national who had been living in Port Isabel.

U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) filed an immigration detainer against him.
