      Pregnant woman dies after giving birth at scene of rollover accident

      A woman expecting a child has died after the SUV her family was traveling in was involved in a rollover accident.

      Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the fatal wreck.

      DPS Sgt. Johnny Hernandez said the accident happened around midnight on Friday just north of Raymondville on Highway 77 in Kenedy County.

      State troopers reported that 19-year-old Niser Quilantan-Saldana of Mission, a 19-year-old male and a 2-year-old girl were traveling southbound in their Ford Explorer.

      Authorities believe the driver of the vehicle drove off the road and overcorrected, hitting a tree.

      That TMs when the vehicle rolled over, ejecting the passengers, who were not wearing their seat belts.

      When first responders arrived, they assisted Quilantan-Saldana, who was pregnant, give birth on the scene.

      She was immediately transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen where she later died.

      The baby is currently in NICU.

      The male and child passengers are in stable condition with minor injuries.

      No charges have been filed in the accident as of yet.
