Pregnant woman taken to hospital after being beat with broomstick

A man was arrested after he slapped, punched and beat his pregnant wife with a broomstick, according to court documents.

Jesus Valenzuela allegedly hit his pregnant wife, while he was under the influence of drugs.

According to documents obtained by Action 4 News, a disagreement started because Valenzuela was under the influence of drugs.

He then slapped and punched the woman TMs face as she was lying on her bed, according to the documents.

She told authorities she was kicked four times on her back and was hit with a broomstick on her waist.

She was able to escape and call for help.

He then pushed her down and punched her in the face again, according to the documents.

After family members arrived, Valenzuela ran out of the house.

The woman TMs shirt was ripped and had blood stains, according to authorities.

The seven month pregnant woman was transported to Valley Regional Medical Center.

Valenzuela was found near the scene of the alleged crime and he was placed under arrest.

Deputies recovered the broken broomstick, bloody shirt and his bloody striped shirt was submitted as evidence.

The 21-year-old was arrested on a count of aggravated assault, and his bond was set at $50,000.
