Preliminary autopsy results for attorney Ray Marchan

Body found in the Laguna Madre belongs to Ray Marchan

Preliminary autopsy results have been released for attorney Ray Marchan who jumped off the Queen Isabella Causeway on Thursday.

Justice of the Peace Juan Mendoza told Action 4 News that Marchan died from blunt force trauma to the head and drowning.

Marchan took a taxi cab to the highest point of the bridge and reportedly faked an illness to get the driver to pull over.

The taxi driver told county investigators Marchan exited the vehicle, and jumped without warning around 4:19 a.m.

Authorities found a body in the Laguna Madre Thursday evening, and later identified it as Marchan TMs.

According to Mendoza, Marchan was found without a shirt on, a laceration to his forehead and swelling to his body.

He said it was clear Marchan had been in the water for hours.

Marchan was expected to begin his 3 1/2 year prison sentence on Thursday.

Action 4 News learned he requested for a two-day extension, but his appeal to not go to federal court was denied.

Mendoza also said that Marchan will be cremated on Saturday.
