Racist comments directed towards a 11-year-old boy who sang the National Anthem during the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat game are sparking outrage.

Sebastien De La Cruz took the stage dressed in a charro outfit right before Game 3 of NBA Finals to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" on Tuesday night.

The performance was greeted by cheers and applause inside the AT&T Center but drew racist comments on the social media network Twitter.

The "Public Shaming" page on Tumblr put together a collection of the comments, which were condemned by Hispanic rights groups on Wednesday night.

De La Cruz was a substitute singer for country music star Darius Rucker, who had travel problems on Tuesday.

But it was not the first national appearance on television for De La Cruz.

The 11-year-old boy was a previous contestant on the NBC television program "America's Got Talent."

Action 4 News contacted the San Antonio Spurs but the team declined to comment about the incident.
