      Raft full of illegal immigrants lands teen behind bars

      A teenager is behind bars after game wardens found him using a raft to cross a group of illegal immigrants along the Rio Grande.

      Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) game wardens arrested Jose Eduardo Esparza-Vasquez on a human smuggling charge on Saturday.

      The 17-year-old is accused of using a raft to smuggle immigrants along the Rio Grande in Hidalgo County.

      Esparza-Vasquez appeared before Hidalgo County Pct. 4-2 Justice of the Peace Homer Jasso.

      The teen remains in custody at the Hidalgo County Jail under a $75,000 dollar bond and an immigration detainer.
