Raid shuts down "last" 8-liner arcade in Willacy County

8-Liner Raid

Authorities have seized machines and cash following a raid at what authorities believe is the last 8-liner arcade in Willacy County.

It all happened at the Copa Cabana Arcade off FM 506 and Highway 77 in Sebastian just after 3 p.m. on Friday.

Both Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers and Willacy County Sheriff TMs Department deputies are at the scene.

Investigators told Action 4 News that 36 people were inside playing on the arcade machines at the time of the raid.

Authorities are holding people there until they have been identified and determined to have no active arrests warrants.

Willacy County Judge John Gonzalez said after today's raid, Willacy County will no longer have operating 8-liner establishments.

Sheriff Larry Spence confirmed that Raymondville police raided another 8-liner arcade on Thursday night.

Spence said that the arcade raided in Sebastian on Friday afternoon was the last one left in Willacy County.
