Action 4 News has posted RAW VIDEO of press conference with Lt. Gen. Bob Cone regarding a shooting that left 12 dead and 31 wounded at Fort Hood.
Lt. Gen. Cone told reporters that the shooting started at the base's Soldier Readiness Facility at 1:30 p.m .Thursday.
The facility is a group of building that used to be known as the "Sports Dome Complex" but is now used for pre-deployment medical and dental checkups for soldiers going overseas.
Lt. Gen. Cone told reproters that a gunmen entered one of the buildings and opened fire.
The gunman was killed by a Fort Hood police officer.
Lt. Gen. Cone said the gunman was identified as a soldier and that at least two other soldiers have been taken into custody as part of an ongoing invsetigation into the incident.
The lieutenant general said that a civilian police officer from the Fort Hood Police Department is among the dead.
Fort Hood remains under lockdown.
Lt. Gen. Cone said all casualites were from the shooting at the Soldier Readiness Facility incident.
No motive was identified but Lt. Gen. Cone said the FBI has been called into to conduct background checks on the gunman and the two others in custody.
"I would like to express my condolences to the soldiers, to the families and to the civilans in this great community in Central Texas," Lt. Gen. Cone told reporters. "This is a terrible tragedy but we'll live through it."
