Raymondville motorcyclist, 75, dies after crash in Harlingen

A 75-year-old motorcyclist from Raymondville died Thursday after a crash in Harlingen.

Update 3/20/18: Harlingen police identified the victim as 75-year-old Gerald Whitrock of Raymondville.

Original Story: A 75-year-old motorcyclist from Raymondville died Thursday after a crash in Harlingen.

At about 7:30 a.m., Harlingen police responded to the 200 block of North Ed Carey Drive in reference to an accident involving a motorcycle and a truck.

Preliminary investigation reveals the motorcyclist was traveling south in the middle lane when he attempted to turn into a private driveway and crossed directly in front of a truck traveling in the outside lane, causing a collision.

Harlingen police found the driver of the motorcycle on the ground in serious condition. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The identity of the man has not been released.

Police say no criminal charges are expected to be filed.
