Records: 69-year-old McAllen man in possession of child porn shoplifts from Walmart

A 69-year-old McAllen man accused of shoplifting from Walmart had child pornography in his possession at the time of his arrest, according to a criminal complaint.

Nicolas Villegas Rodriguez, 69, of McAllen was charged with fraudulent removal of writing, a Class A misdemeanor; and possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

Police found the child pornography in Rodriguez's right jacket pocket during a body search Monday, according to the criminal complaint. Police say Rodriguez had a stack of papers with about six pictures of naked females who appeared to be under 18.

McAllen police were initially called to the Walmart located on the 2800 block of Nolana Avenue after an employee saw Rodriguez shoplifting, according to the criminal complaint.

Police say a Walmart employee observed Rodriguez remove the price tag sticker of a car battery valued at $49.88, then place the sticker on a car battery valued at $117.96, according to the criminal complaint.

A justice of the peace set bond at $8,000. Rodriguez remains in the Hidalgo County jail and couldn't be reached for comment.
