Court records reveal a new twist in a murder that took place on Harlingen's west side.

Harlingen police arrested 28-year-old Gabriel Vela on murder and attempted murder charges over the weekend.

Vela is accused in the April 1st shooting death of 21-year-old Mayra Vianey Oyervides.

Records released on Tuesday show Vela is behind bars for planning the cold-blooded killing of her fiance TMs nephew.

But the two gunmen Vela allegedly hired got the wrong victim.

Both gunmen were caught on tape near the crime scene off Wright Street.

The case began to unravel when police arrested Vela's wife Dorothy Lee Sanchez, who TMs accused of being the getaway driver.

Court records now confirm the two gunmen were after 18-year-old Leonel Lee Garcia, the nephew of Oyervides's fianc.

A motive is still not clear but family members cremated Oyervides late last week.

Before her death, the 21-year-old was planning to get married and start a family.

Half of her ashes went to her parents and other half went to her fianc.

Both Vela and his wife remain behind bars in the Cameron County Jail while the two unidentified gunmen remain at large.
